Dish Breakdown

The meal started with the eggplantwith minced chicken, served bubbling hot in a claypot. Visually, it arrivedstill aggressively sizzling, releasing a smoky aroma that immediately drewattention. The eggplant was soft and silky, having absorbed the saucecompletely, while the minced chicken added texture and savoury depth. Theflavour leaned rich and slightly spicy, with a strong wok presence that made itdeeply comforting. It is the kind of dish best eaten straight away, while theheat and smoke are still alive.

Next was the fried prawns with eggyolk, a popular classic done well here. The prawns were cooked just right, plump and juicy without any hint of overcooking. The egg yolk sauce coated eachpiece with a rough, slightly gritty texture that clung nicely to the shellfish. It delivered a savoury, gently salty hit rather than being overly rich. Whileit was very enjoyable, it felt like it would have been even better with saltedegg yolk for a deeper, more indulgent finish.

The highlight of the meal was thePeking duck set. The duck itself was excellent, with glassy, crisp skin, wellrendered fat, and tender meat underneath. Wrapped in soft pancakes with hoisinsauce, cucumber, and spring onion, each bite felt balanced and indulgentwithout being heavy. The set also included stir fried noodles with duck meatand skin, which turned out to be more than just an add-on. The wok hei wasstrong, giving the noodles a smoky depth, while the duck added richness andtexture that made it genuinely satisfying.
